Is my CPU Stable?????? Help!!!!!!

Postby darrena on Tue Feb 09, 2010 10:34 pm

I have just built myself a budget gaming PC, spec as below.

Monitor 42 inch Panasonic Plasma
OCZ 600w power supply
Asus M4A785TD -EVO mobo
G-Skill 2x 2gb ripjaw memory
Club 3D ATi HD4890 Super clocked version
Pioneer 22x DVD RW
7200rpm Sata HDD Western Digital
Window 7 64 bit
AMD Pheonom II x2 550 Black Edition
I have managed to unlock the the other two cores to make the CPU a Phenom x4 B50 and was considering overclocking the CPU now that I have fitted the new cooler reducing the temperature to 32 degrees.
One of the things I was trying to establish was the temperature of each core which i am unable to determine using AMD Overdrive as they show as -256 degrees.
Sorry to the point now! I am unsure if my CPU is stable as the multiplyer is fluctuating between x4 and x15.5 and the processor speed is changing between 800mhz and 3100mhz, is this unstable or normal, system seems to run fine otherwise, if bad how do i fix it???????

The best way to determine stability is to do a 24 hours burn in test. You can use something like sisoft sandra, prime 95, 3d mark etc.

If the system continues to run without crashing during this time the it should be stable.
