Intel to Discontinue many CPUs as 22nm Ivy Bridge is imminent
Jan. 16, 2012. According to sources from Taiwan, Intel are about to discontinue many of the current line of CPU’s. These include i7-875/860, i5-760/750/655, Celeron 450/430 as well as many other models. This will make way for the new generation 22nm Ivy Bridge based CPUs which will offer higher performance and better power efficiency. There are other tweaks and improvement such as on die GPU support for DirectX 11 as well PCI Express 3.0.
It is rumored that the Ivy Bridge CPUs would be launched in April 2012.
If you are in the market for a new PC you might want to wait a little longer if you want the latest and the greatest as you might be disappointed if you upgrade now.
